• Kalamazoo RESA West Campus to open June 27

    Kalamazoo RESA West Campus, the former Croyden Avenue School building renovated to house Kalamazoo RESA's Young Adult Program (YAP), Preprimary Evaluation Team (PET) and Great Start early childhood programs, will open on June 27. It will also be home to Kalamazoo RESA's hearing impaired and visually impaired program staff offices and special education transition services.

    The program previously housed at Croyden Avenue School moved in fall 2010 to the new WoodsEdge Learning Center. Both the WoodsEdge construction and Kalamazoo RESA West Campus renovation projects are part of the $25.4 million bond proposal that Kalamazoo County voters approved in November 2007.

    A public open house at Kalamazoo RESA West Campus is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. on September 29.

    The former Croyden Avenue School building is being renovated to house Kalamazoo RESA’s Young Adult Program (YAP), Preprimary Evaluation Team (PET) and Great Start early childhood programs.
     
    Work on the remodeling project is scheduled to be complete in June 2011. The renovated building will be named Kalamazoo RESA West Campus.
     
    Work on the renovation is on schedule and on budget. Demolition is nearing completion and contractors have completed framing and have started drywall installation inside the building. The building’s pool has been removed and conference room space will take its place.
     
    The program previously housed at Croyden moved in fall 2010 to the new WoodsEdge Learning Center. Both the WoodsEdge construction and Croyden renovation projects are part of the $25.4 million bond proposal that Kalamazoo County voters approved in November 2007.

    LogoKalamazoo RESA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Aug. 12 at WoodsEdge Learning Center.

    WoodsEdge students and their families joined Kalamazoo RESA staff members at the event to mark the opening of the special education center-based school that is the new home of the program previously housed at Croyden Avenue School.
     
    An opening celebration will be held at WoodsEdge from 4-8 p.m. on Sept. 15. The event will include tours and feature the building’s innovative learning spaces and tools designed to support students at all stages of learning. The public is invited to attend.
     
    WoodsEdge Learning Center is located at 1501 E. Milham Avenue in Portage, next to the Kalamazoo RESA Service Center. Get more information about the school.
