Congratulations to Rachel Roberts, Assistant Principal of Kalamazoo RESA Head Start, who was recently named the new Principal. She succeeds Stephanie Lemmer, who has been hired as Superintendent of Centreville Public Schools. Rachel has served Kalamazoo RESA for the last four years as a site supervisor, MTSS coordinator, and most recently as assistant principal at Head Start. Prior to that, she was an elementary teacher.
Tori Wentela, Administrator of Offsite Special Education Programs, has been named the new Program Improvement and Accountability Administrator. This position, formerly the Administrator of Monitoring, Compliance and Data Collection, belonged to incoming Assistant Superintendent of Special Education Mindy Miller. Wentela has been in her current role for 15 months.
Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) recently received a generous grant of $20,000 from the Sally Appleyard Trust. The funding will be used to extend and enhance youth talent tours, which the program uses to connect young people with in-demand careers.
