The Youth Center School is a school program that serves youth currently residing in the Juvenile Home. The students may attend the school from a few days to a semester. Upon entry the students are tested for academic functioning in reading and math. The program is departmentalized and the students move through their classes in a group. The school staff works closely with the Juvenile Home staff and the court to meet the needs of the youth attending the YCS. The needs of these students are diverse. The staff meets daily to discuss the changes in the population of the student body. Individualized programming is the strength of the YCS program. The staff assesses daily the individual needs of the students. Communication with the youth's caseworkers and the court also insures student success.
