• Program Eligibility

Kalamazoo County Pre-K is committed to providing high-quality prekindergarten experiences to as many children and families in Kalamazoo County to the greatest extent possible. In an effort to accomplish that goal, we have a common application to streamline the application and enrollment process for families and providers. The application allows Kalamazoo County Pre-K providers and program staff the ability to connect families to the program that best meets families’ eligibility and needs.

All families interested in enrolling their 4-year-old child in a Kalamazoo County Pre-K program must submit a completed application and all required documentation before being considered or connected to a program. Required documents include:
    • Completed application, dated and signed
    • Proof of Age
    • Proof of Income
    • Proof of Residency

    GSRP Eligibility:

    • The child must be four years of age on or before December 1. (If a child turns four between September 1 and December 1, they will be enrolled after September 1.)
    • Family income is at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Line (FPL), or meets one of the established categorical eligibility criteria (homelessness, foster care, or an IEP specifying Pre-K enrollment).

Other Eligibility Factors Contributing to Education Risk for Prioritization:

    • Diagnosed Disability or Identified Developmental Delay
    • Primary Home Language Other than English
    • Environmental Risk
    • Abuse/Neglect of Child or Parent
    • Parent(s) with Low Educational Attainment
