    Kalamazoo RESA Foundation awards 85 student scholarships

    The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency Foundation awarded 85 scholarships to 79 students in the Kalamazoo RESA service area in May, 2017.

    High school seniors and college students received awards totaling $46,945 to help ease the burden of college expenses: Nine scholarships were awarded to students from Climax-Scotts High School, 24 scholarships were awarded to Education for Employment and Education for the Arts seniors, 39 scholarships were awarded to students of Kalamazoo RESA employees, and thirteen scholarships were awarded to Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) students.

    In addition to the student scholarships, the Kalamazoo RESA Foundation also awarded $16,396 in Employee Grants, YOU student support grants, and Targeted Assistance Grants.

     The Kalamazoo RESA Foundation selected four winners of the Targeted Assistance Grant, totaling $11,500. This program, now in its second year, will help promising Kalamazoo RESA staff who have an interest in teaching to continue their education and become early childhood and special education teachers.

    The Kalamazoo RESA Foundation supports Kalamazoo RESA in inspiring education excellence throughout Kalamazoo County. Its funds are dedicated to developing exemplary and innovative education programs, growing staff skills through professional development and supporting research and evaluation.
