Executive Assistant to the Superintendent Deb Vliek to Retire
Deb Vliek’s tenure with Kalamazoo RESA began on a snow day in February 2008. After 11 years of dedicated service as the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, she is eager to begin the newest chapter of her life - retirement.
Having worked as the executive assistant for both Ron Fuller and Dave Campbell, Vliek has been instrumental to the work of the Kalamazoo RESA Board of Education, Foundation Board and the Kalamazoo County School Officers Association.
Prior to her work at Kalamazoo RESA, Vliek launched her career as a young Clerk Typist for Kalamazoo County, spent nine years at home with her two children, worked as the secretary to the elementary principal at Sunset Lake Elementary in Vicksburg and served on the Pavilion Township Board for 22 years.
“I am so going to miss the people. I consider so many of them friends and I’m glad to know that we will stay in touch. I treasure how we all want to do what’s best for the kids,” said Vliek.
During retirement, Vliek looks forward to spending time with her children, Ross and Danielle, her three grandchildren, Madelyn, McKenna and Mark, as well as working in her yard, traveling and volunteering.
“Deb’s professional presence has been a hallmark of her tenure with Kalamazoo RESA. She has been a reliable asset in her various roles and has always been ready to go the extra mile,” said Dave Campbell, Kalamazoo RESA Superintendent. “While we will certainly miss her around the agency, we wish her nothing but the best as she ventures into retirement and enjoying more time with her family.”
Congratulations on your retirement, Deb! Kalamazoo RESA thanks you for your years of loyal service and wish you all the best in your retirement.
