Education for Employment's Culinary Arts Program Recognized by MOSPA
The Kalamazoo RESA Education for Employment’s Culinary Arts program has been recognized by the Michigan Occupational Special Populations Association (MOSPA) as a recipient of the 2017 MOSPA Program Award-Secondary.
Nominated by Hayley Schrump, Education for Employment (EFE) culinary instructor Kharen Shelton received the award on behalf of the Culinary Arts program.
On May 4th, Shelton will attend the State Awards Recognition Banquet at Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, Michigan.
“It was an honor to be nominated by Hayley - I love what I do and it's great to be recognized, especially if it elevates the work we Education for Employment/Education for the Arts teachers do on behalf of our students, parents and programs!” said Chef Shelton. “I also appreciate the opportunity to not only attend the banquet to receive this award, but also attend the conference and gain new insights and knowledge. I am looking forward to learning more ways we can keep the momentum going and continue to improve.”
“Chef Kharen and Chef Hayley exemplify best practices for meeting the needs of all of their students and especially the Special Populations students in their program. They go above and beyond to provide tools for students to be successful in the culinary class, all while gaining skills to be employable in the field,” said Diane Fort, EFE student services coordinator.
