Eaton Defensive Driving We are accepting registrations for the 2013 Eaton Proving Grounds Defensive Driving classes. Classes are limited to 4 dates as the facilities will be testing products much of 2013. The remaining available class date is July 27. Class dates that are at capacity include June 8, June 22, and July 13. The registration is available by clicking on the following highlighted file. Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency in cooperation with Eaton Corporation Proving Grounds, Marshall Michigan, has sponsored Defensive Driving training programs for school bus drivers since 1978. Drivers with one or more years of driving experience are eligible to participate. Training sessions training dates vary each year depending on the facility availability. Generally classes are offered from June -August with class beginning at 7:45 am on Saturdays. Eaton Proving Grounds is a secure facility, thus drivers will remain on the grounds during the training session. Drivers must provide picture identification and their own sack lunch. Drivers successfully completing this course are eligible to receive their 6-hour Certificate of Continuing Education card, if they have not previously obtained a certificate from this program. An abbreviated version of the current Continuing Education curriculum is presented in a classroom setting. Bus drivers receive behind the wheel training in small groups. The exercises include: Serpentine Forward and Backward Evasive Maneuver Straight Braking Off Road Recovery Skid Control This is a very popular program and classes fill as registrations arrive on a first come first serve basis. We can not reserve a training date without the completed registration being submitted. Registration are submitted by email, mail or fax. The participant fee for the program is $70 for school personnel (bus drivers, mechanics, etc.) for non-school personnel ( i.e., police, fire, ambulance personnel, ect.) the fee is $80. Failure to cancel by May 31, 2013 will result in being charged the full fee for the program. It is recommended that you submit the completed registration form as soon as possible. You will receive a confirmation memo by email with your assigned training date.
