What is Early/Middle College and what are the benefits?
- A rigorous five-year high school program that combines both high school and college degree requirements
- Students can earn an associate degree or certificate along with their high school diploma
- Students are enrolled in a focused program of study
- Students have access to support services which enhance their success
- Tuition and fees are paid by the local school district up to an allocated amount

Why should I consider Early/Middle College?
- EMC provides a supported transition from high school to college
- EMC assists students in completing their credential earlier than a 12th-year graduate and helps them begin their career path sooner.
- Education beyond high school is more important than ever - many careers require one or two years of continued education after high school

What types of supports are available to EMC students?
- College Success Strategies Course
- EMC students take this course in 10th grade
- Provides students with academic support skills, college survival techniques and access to Xello
- EMC Student Support Meetings
- EMC students entering 11th grade in the fall will attend EMC Kickoff in August
- EMC students entering 12th grade in the fall will attend EMC Refresh in August
- EMC students entering 13th grade in the fall will attend EMC Rising 5th Year in April
- EMC Career Coach
- Dedicated EMC staff member who will regularly meet with student
- Goals include, discussing academic progress, developing success strategies, connecting students with resources and assisting students with the transition from high school to college
- Kalamazoo Valley Community College resources
- Limited transportation is available for classes at KVCC through the KRESA Bus Hub for participating schools

What is the difference between EMC and Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment
- Open entry, open exit
- Limited course selection
- Encouraged to meet with college counselor before enrolling on college campus
- Ends after fourth year of high school
Early/Middle College
- Must be enrolled by beginning of 11th grade
- Planned program goals
- Required college advising twice each year
- Extra supports, including EMC Career Coach
