A familiar tale for many out there, Mondrea Sims habitually put her family before herself. After the loss of her mother, Mondrea stepped into the role of raising her younger siblings. She had spent two years in the same job and realized it was time to take the next move toward her dream. And the multi-agency, collaborative partnerships with Michigan Works! Southwest and YOU made it possible for her to do just that. 

Mondrea dreamed of rising through the healthcare field, and her next step was to become a certified nurse aid (CNA). But, for her to get there, she had to jump through multiple hoops. Thankfully for her and her family, YOU makes this seemingly daunting feat accessible and attainable.  

Mondrea enrolled in CareerNOW through YOU and was put through CASAS reading and math testing, career pathway development, paid CNA training at Comstock Community Education, State of Michigan CNA certification and job search assistance. And while obtaining subsidized training and testing is an opportunity unlike any other, individuals like Mondrea typically remember receiving something that many might overlook; her scrubs, required footwear and a new watch were provided to her for free.  

Mondrea was offered a CNA position promptly after her training. Her high level of dedication and consistently positive attitude will prove an asset in attaining future career goals.
