With access to several different tests which can help to identify a child with hearing loss, the audiologist will determine which assessment will be most effective depending on the child’s individual needs. The parent/guardian must be present with the child during the duration of the testing.

Nancy Gallihugh, Kalamazoo RESA Educational Audiologist, works with students, parents, and school professionals to ensure that students with hearing loss are identified, evaluated and managed to provide appropriate access to instruction in the classroom. The audiologist provides comprehensive hearing evaluations, selects, fits and validates hearing assistive technology in the classroom, educates students about their hearing loss to support self-advocacy skills, and assists school personnel in the best practices to use with deaf/hard of hearing students.
