- Education for Employment
Thank you, Karen
May 26, 2020
After a robust and meaningful career, Kalamazoo RESA Education for Employment/Career & Technical Education (EFE/CTE) Program Administrator Karen Robyn will retire in June.
Robyn initially began her work with Kalamazoo RESA in the 1970s as a volunteer to conduct career preparation research. During the 90s she was contracted with EFE, the Kalamazoo RESA de-centralized career and technical education program, to assist with career exploration activities and build lasting connections with the business community. Robyn was officially hired by Kalamazoo RESA in 2005.
While most of Robyn’s career with EFE focused on collaboration and innovation with the business and educational communities, her favorite moments have been seeing it all come together to positively affect a student’s future.
“I have loved watching EFE programs help students grow into young adults, providing them with the tools and opportunities to be successful in life after high school,” explained Robyn.
“Karen has been a dedicated and caring administrator of integrity,” said Deb Miller, assistant superintendent of secondary programming. “The EFE teachers and staff will miss her compassion, thoughtfulness and thorough leadership over the EFE programs she serves. We wish you the best, Karen, as you begin your next journey in retirement.”
During retirement, Robyn is looking forward to spending time with family and nurturing her creative side. “I am looking forward to spending more time with my grandchildren, staying at the family cabin, cooking, gardening, traveling, connecting with friends and taking some art classes,” she said.
Reminiscing about her work in education, Robyn was reminded of a quote by Simon Sinek: “‘Excitement comes from the achievement. Fulfillment comes from the journey that got you there.’”
“I would like to thank the entire KRESA team for playing an integral part in my journey!” said Robyn.
Congratulations Karen on this exciting new chapter in your life! It’s been a joy working alongside you to bring high-quality educational opportunities to our students.
