Education for Employment Receives $15,000 Project Lead the Way Grant

Education for Employment (EFE) was recently awarded a grant for $15,000 from the Verizon Innovation Grant through Project Lead the Way (PLTW). This grant will fund a middle school Project Lead the Way computer science program at Comstock Northeast Middle school. With this grant, EFE will be able to provide new computers, installation, and Project Lead the Way training for two teachers. The courses will be titled Computer Science for Innovators and Makers and App Creator. One computer science course will be implemented next year, and another the following year.

"I am very happy to be a part of this exciting opportunity for Comstock students,” said Deb Kolberg, EFE STEM Teacher Consultant and Project Manager. “This money from our generous sponsors will allow students the opportunity to learn valuable computer programing skills through an engaging and rigorous curriculum."

Project Lead The Way is a nonprofit organization that provides a transformative learning experience for PreK-12 students and teachers across the United States. PLTW impacted the lives of over 16,000 Kalamazoo County students in the last year alone. 17 elementary schools, 15 middle schools, and three high schools in Kalamazoo County have at least one PLTW course.
