Valley Center School 2017 Commencement
On Friday, May 26th, Valley Center School graduated two seniors, Anthony Hofacker of Parchment, and Jalen Miles of Kalamazoo.
Mary Pickett, principal at Valley Center School, spoke of the lessons to be learned in children’s books, specifically the childhood favorites of the graduates: Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat, and Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
During the commencement ceremony, Anthony and Jalen were recognized with the 5 Expectations Award for the management of feelings and for having earned a place on the Honor Roll. Jalen was also with the Principal’s Award for Outstanding Personal Growth and perfect attendance.
The graduates received their diplomas with a handshake and a hug from Mrs. Pickett.
“Anthony and Jalen, you should be super-duper proud, I know that I am,” said a tearful Mrs. Pickett. “I am 100% confident that you are going to keep doing great things.”
