WoodsEdge welcomes new principal
Aubree Spencer is the new principal of WoodsEdge Learning Center. She earned a bachelor’s degree in special education and a master’s degree in special education administration from Western Michigan University. She’s currently pursuing her doctorate from WMU.
“Aubree’s passion for empowering students to be more independent, along with her high standard of excellence in instruction and her love of innovation, make her the perfect fit to continue the great work of WoodsEdge Learning Center,” said Director Angela Telfer.
Spencer comes to Kalamazoo RESA from St. Joseph County ISD where she was the special education supervisor and principal at a center-based school for two years. She’s taught in Clark County, Las Vegas, as well as at Union City High School in Calhoun County. She was also the transition liaison and work-based learning coordinator for Union City Schools.
“I have a passion for students with disabilities and love being a part of the great work that teachers do every day,” she said. “I am a lifelong learner and feel blessed to be a part of Kalamazoo RESA. I am impressed more and more each day with the level of teamwork and collaboration I see at WoodsEdge and within KRESA as a whole organization. I am excited to be a part of a team that works together for the betterment of each student in Kalamazoo County.”
