Irving S. Gilmore Foundation awards grants to Kalamazoo RESA programs
The Foundation’s grant to WoodsEdge Learning Center will help fund its Music Therapy Program for students with significant disabilities. “We’re thrilled that our students will continue to benefit from regular music therapy, engaging their brains and bodies in curriculum through music, thanks to the generous support of The Irving S. Gilmore Foundation,” says WoodsEdge director Angela Telfer.
By supporting Education for the Arts’ Artistic Equipment Program, the Foundation helps advanced-level arts students access pricey items that might otherwise be unaffordable, like digital video cameras, high-end media arts software, violins, grand pianos, double basses and cellos. Students can apply to EFA for matching grants of up to $2,500 or a loan to purchase instruments or equipment costing $5,000-10,000.
And the Cultural Field Trip Rebate Program grant allows EFA to subsidize Kalamazoo RESA district schools for field trips to concerts, dance programs, art exhibits and more. Schools pay just $25 per round trip and the rebate program pays the rest.
In gifts like these, Irving Gilmore’s generous, art-loving spirit lives on. Take a moment to learn more about this community benefactor’s life and legacy.
