Kalamazoo RESA Employee Elected President of Michigan Career Placement Association
Education for Employment Career Specialist Irene Mayfield has been elected President of the Michigan Career Placement Association (MCPA).
The MCPA is a professional organization whose goal is to provide direction, placement, and leadership services to all personnel who assist in the placement of all students into work-based learning experiences.
Mayfield joined Kalamazoo RESA’s EFE program just over 2 1/2 years ago. At that time, she was introduced to the MCPA. The MCPA has given her the opportunity to connect with other professionals in her field from all over Michigan.
Mayfield is excited to give back to MCPA as president. “I hope to help others who work in work-based learning navigate the laws, regulations, rules, and requirements that come with this very important work,” she said. “I also will strive to create an informative and engaging conference each fall. This is so important because information in this area is always changing and it is vital to have an organization such as the MCPA where professionals can connect and ask questions.”
Mayfield begins her three-year term starting this year as the President-Elect, next year she will serve as the President and the following year as the Past-President.
“We are very proud of Irene for her recent election as President of MCPA,” said Cameron Buck, EFE Program Administrator. “Irene is very dedicated and knowledgeable, it is no surprise that her colleagues from across Michigan have elected her to be the leader of this organization.”
