Graduation Season at Kalamazoo RESA
The end of the school year marks a busy and exciting time for Kalamazoo RESA programs and services. End-of-year projects, events and celebrations fill the calendars as students and staff celebrate a year of achievements.
During the commencement ceremony, Anthony and Jalen were recognized with the 5 Expectations Award for the management of feelings and for having earned a place on the Honor Roll. Jalen was also with the Principal’s Award for Outstanding Personal Growth and perfect attendance. The graduates received their diplomas with a handshake and a hug from Mrs. Pickett.
During the Young Adult Program’s Celebration of Achievement on Wednesday, June 17, festivities began with the processional of students to the tune of Justin Timberlake’s upbeat pop hit “Can’t Stop the Feeling!”
Tears and laughter were shared by all as graduating students were presented with diplomas and certificates by their final YAP teachers.
Bittersweet emotions of difficult goodbyes and exciting adventures to come were the theme during YAP principal Adam Danapilis’s farewell address. “They have given us so much more than we could ever give them,” he said.
On Friday, June 16, seven students from the WoodsEdge Learning Center (WELC) earned certificates of achievement and graduated from the special education program.
Eyes and hearts were overflowing as students, family and friends viewed a “Through the Years” photo presentation, which
highlighted the graduates throughout their lives.
The excited graduates then received their certificates, and celebrated with a high-five to WELC principal Aubree Spencer.
Congratulations to all who were recognized for their outstanding achievements.
