Mike Leeuw helps students with disabilities to learn the restaurant trades by giving them work experiences in some of the restaurants he owns.
He and his wife Jane own eight eateries, which provide plenty of opportunities for young people, the folks at Kalamazoo RESA's Work Based Learning Program say. And that is great.
But Leeuw is being recognized with a statewide award for his personal involvement in helping to mentor the young people who come his way.
