Empowering Educators

KRESA is thrilled to announce the recipients of its 2024 Targeted Assistance Grants (TAG). This initiative, part of KRESA’s strategic commitment to foster educational excellence, is aimed specifically at nurturing a diverse pool of talented, non-certified staff who have demonstrated the potential and desire to advance their careers as educators.

This year, we are proud to support five outstanding individuals, each of whom has shown exceptional skill and character, and a deep commitment to pursuing certifications in Special Education or Early Childhood Education. These areas are critical as we aim to meet the evolving educational needs of our community’s children.

What the TAG Offers

Recipients can use the grant to cover a wide range of educational expenses including tuition, books, childcare and transportation. This comprehensive support ensures that financial constraints do not hinder our employees' educational pursuits. This approach underscores KRESA’s commitment to investing in the professional growth of our staff.

By investing in our employees, KRESA is not just enhancing the careers of educators, but also enriching the learning environments for the children they will go on to teach. This grant is renewable, allowing recipients to receive continued support as they work towards their teaching certifications over multiple years.

Congratulations to the 2024 Awardees!

This year’s awardees exemplify the dedication and passion of KRESA’s educators. Each recipient has been recognized for their potential to significantly impact our educational community and ultimately, the futures of so many children:

  • Christine Brown, Job Coach at the Young Adult Program (YAP)
  • Nicole Tuesley, Associate Teacher at Head Start
  • Kayla Fisher, Paraprofessional at WoodsEdge Learning Center (WELC)
  • Elizabeth Christopher, Paraprofessional at the Young Adult Program (YAP)
  • Jenna Tyler, D/HH Paraprofessional in Special Education

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the 2024 recipients of the Targeted Assistance Grants and look forward to the positive changes they will bring to their classrooms and beyond.

At Kalamazoo RESA, we believe in the power of education to transform lives, and through the TAG, we are excited to be a part of our educators’ journey to continued excellence.
