Kalamazoo RESA (KRESA) respects the privacy of our community – students, families, teachers, and staff. This section outlines our practices in handling information when using our RingCentral SMS service. 

About RingCentral SMS  

Kalamazoo RESA (KRESA) uses RingCentral for 1:1, two-way, human conversations between Kalamazoo RESA (KRESA) staff and families/students. We use it to respond to questions, coordinate services, and help with support. We do not use RingCentral texting for marketing or promotional messages. Opt-in form available at kresa.org/optin

Please note: Kalamazoo RESA (KRESA) may use a separate service for automated or mass notifications (such as snow days and general announcements). That automated service may have its own opt-in/opt-out process. 

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties except as required to provide our services or comply with legal obligations.

Collection of personal information

When you opt in or text us, we collect: 

  • Your mobile phone number 
  • The messages you send and receive 
  • Message details such as date/time and delivery status 

Please note: If you initiate a conversation via text, you consent to receive 1:1 replies related to your inquiry. You may send STOP at any time. 

SMS Consent

The information Kalamazoo RESA (KRESA) obtained as part of the SMS consent process will not be shared with third parties for marketing purposes. SMS consent is used only for direct, individual communication related to educational services and support.

Use of personal information

We use your information to: 

  • Communicate with you and respond to your requests 
  • Provide service-related updates and coordination 
  • Improve our communication and meet legal/recordkeeping needs 

We may share limited information, only as needed, to provide texting services to: 

  • RingCentral (our SMS service provider) 
  • Mobile carriers (to deliver messages) 

Mobile Opt-in, SMS Consent, and phone numbers collected for SMS communication purposes will not be shared with any third party or affiliates for marketing purposes.

Potential Fees for SMS Messaging: 

Please note that standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier’s pricing plan. These fees may vary if the message is sent domestically or internationally.

Opt-In Method:

You may opt in to receive SMS messages from Kalamazoo RESA (KRESA) in the following way:

Opt-Out Method:

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time. To do so, simply reply "STOP" to any SMS message you receive. Alternatively, you can contact us directly at (269) 250-9200 to request removal from our messaging list.

Additional Options:
