Discovery Lab

Our mobile classroom brings hands-on career exploration directly to Kalamazoo County middle schoolers and their families.  Each experience builds early awareness of high-demand fields while highlighting clear pathways into local Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. By meeting students where they are, the mobile classroom connects curiosity to opportunity and supports informed transitions into high school courses.

Through the Discovery Lab, learners will:
  • Explore a range of CTE career paths through hands-on, interactive experiences
  • Learn about local high-demand jobs and what skills are needed
  • Engage in team-based problem-solving while working with real-world equipment, technology, and career scenarios
  • Gain exposure to future elective courses and career pathway opportunitie
School Commitment includes:
  • Scheduling time for each class or student group to participate
  • Providing a location with parking
  • Ensuring staff are present during the visit for supervision and support
  • Completing a short post-visit reflection survey with students
