EFA offers arts-intensive classes in the disciplines of theater, musical theater, music, dance, visual arts, digital arts and film/video arts. Classes are taught by a collaborative team of teachers and professional working artists. Students receive instruction, mentoring and hands-on experience in authentic, artistic environments.

The application window for the 2025-26 school year is now closed. Applications for the 2026-27 school year will be accepted starting December 1.

This program gives students the opportunity to simultaneously earn both an associate degree and a high school diploma. Students enroll in a focused program of study at Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) and graduate after an additional year of high school. The students' local school district pays the college tuition and fees up to an allocated amount, determines the number of openings, and makes the final decision as to which students are selected for participation. 

APPLY FOR EMC 

How to Apply For EMC: 

The Early/Middle College application process is separate from CTE/EFA. Applications typically open in mid-January and are due in early March for enrollment starting the following fall.  

1. Learn about EMC and talk to your counselor. Students must be accepted into the EMC program before beginning the junior year of high school. Early in 10th grade (or by mid-year), discuss the EMC opportunity with your school counselor.

2. Submit the EMC online application 
    

3. After applying, keep an eye on your email for further instructions. You may receive a request for additional information. By the spring of 10th grade, your high school and KRESA Career Connect will notify you if you’ve been accepted into EMC.
