Substitute Teachers

PESG Enrollment
Professional Educational Services Group (PESG) enrollment is required for all
substitute teachers working in the following Kalamazoo County school districts:

bullet Comstock bullet Parchment
bullet Galesburg-Augusta bullet Portage
bullet Gull Lake bullet Schoolcraft
bullet Kalamazoo Public bullet Vicksburg
bullet Kalamazoo RESA
 

 
 To Enroll with PESG:
1. Go to their website, www.subpass.com.
2. Click on “Districts,” then “Kalamazoo,” then “Enrollment Requirements and Forms” and read through all of the
      requirements.
3. Complete and print the entire online enrollment packet (approx. 20 pages).
4. Register for an enrollment meeting.
5. Review the enrollment check sheet (the 1st page of your enrollment packet) to ensure you have completed all
      requirements.
6. Make a Livescan Criminal Record Check (fingerprint) appointment with Kalamazoo RESA by
      calling (269) 250-9200 and bring the following to your appointment:
    bullet $60, CASH or CHECK only
    bullet PESG Livescan Request Form
    bullet Valid government issued photo ID (Driver's License, State Photo ID, or passport)
7. Attend the enrollment meeting that you registered for. Please remember to bring your completed
     enrollment packet and ALL items listed on the check sheet.

Qualifications for All Substitute Teachers
in Kalamazoo County, Michigan
bullet 90 credit hours from a 4-year accredited college or university
bullet  Official college transcript (copy of official transcript is acceptable) OR
bullet  A Michigan teaching certificate. If certificate is expired, you are eligible for a substitute permit.
 

  
Criminal Record Check/Fingerprint Requirements
The State of Michigan requires that all substitute teachers have Livescan fingerprints dated after January 1, 2006. If the criminal history check and criminal records check have been completed for a particular individual and the results reported to a school district, ISD, public school academy, or nonpublic school, then another criminal history check or criminal records check is not required for that individual as long as the individual remains employed with no separation from service.  If you were printed previously but have separated, YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE NEW PRINTS TAKEN.
 

 
Kalamazoo RESA Registration
Register at the front desk of the Kalamazoo RESA Service Center (1819 E. Milham Avenue, Portage) to work in:

harter, private or parochial schools
(This is a separate program from PESG)
 
  To register with Kalamazoo RESA:
1. Make a Livescan Criminal Record Check (fingerprint) appointment with Kalamazoo RESA by
      calling (269) 250-9200 and bring the following to your appointment:
      bullet $60, CASH or CHECK only
      bullet Driver's License or Valid State Photo ID
2. Complete a Kalamazoo RESA registration packet, available at the Service Center front desk or you may print the forms below:
3. Bring the completed registration packet to the front desk of the Kalamazoo RESA Service Center, along with these items:
